AMELIE VAN DE
KLASHORST

Amélie van de Klashorst is a ballet dancer and entrepreneur, currently performing with the Belarusian State Musical Theatre and appearing as a guest artist across Europe. In 2021, she founded Young Stars Ballet, where she organises ballet intensives and masterclasses in Berlin. She partnered with conductor Mourad Assouil to co-found Curtain Call World Touring. Within the company, Amélie assumes the role of Artistic Director of the ballet, while also performing in both classical and neoclassical repertoire.

Born in the Netherlands, Amélie began her artistic journey in the world of figure skating, excelling as both a solo skater and ice dancer. She went on to become the Dutch National Champion in her age category, earning recognition and winning numerous national and international competitions.

It was during her figure skating training that she was first introduced to ballet, a discovery that ultimately captured her heart and led her to transition from the ice to the studio. Amélie was accepted into the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague to pursue her ballet education. After two years, she opted for private training, travelling between St. Petersburg, New York, Riga, and The Hague. She travelled to Los Angeles to compete at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), where she received multiple accolades for both dance and acting. The prestigious event provided her with the opportunity to showcase her talents on a global stage, connect with industry professionals, and benefit from professional development through workshops and seminars.

In search of the right guidance, Amélie moved to France to train under former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and esteemed coach Masha Mukhamedov, a decision she credits as completely transformative for her professional and personal growth. For three years, she lived and trained privately at Mukhamedov’s home, receiving a comprehensive ballet education both in the studio and during her downtime. As part of her training, she also competed at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) in Paris and Barcelona, one of the world’s premier ballet competitions, which provides young dancers with valuable exposure and scholarship opportunities.

After three years in France, Amélie relocated to Minsk to study at the Belarusian State Choreographic Academy. Under the tutelage of esteemed artists such as Inessa Dushkevich, Zhanna Lebedeva, and Sergei Mikel, she honed her skills in classical, duet, charactère dance, and contemporary. After graduating at the top of her class, she joined the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theatre in 2021 as a member of the corps de ballet, rising through the ranks to soloist where she continues to perform to this day.

Amélie van de Klashorst founded Young Stars Ballet out of a desire to provide aspiring dancers with the supportive environment she once sought. Having experienced the often uncertain and tiring journey of finding the right opportunities, teachers, and classes, she recognised the challenges that many promising young dancers face. Too often, they are discouraged from pursuing their dreams, receiving messages that their aspirations are unattainable.

Amélie believes that while some may argue such discouragement fosters resilience, it can also lead to the abandonment of dreams. Many talented students give up after hearing these negative assertions, despite the fact that some of today’s biggest stars faced similar challenges early in their education. Through Young Stars Ballet, Amélie aims to create a nurturing space where dancers are encouraged and inspired. She is dedicated to providing individualised instruction from knowledgeable and passionate teachers who truly believe in their students’ potential, fostering an environment where young artists can thrive and pursue their passion for dance.

TV and FILM

She also appeared in various TV shows, films, and commercials across the Netherlands and Belgium, portraying Princess Marijke in the acclaimed drama "Bernhard - Schavuit van Oranje" (directed by Pim van Hoeve). She went on to play other members of the Dutch royal family, including Princess Amalia in "Deadline" (directed by Arno Dierickx) and a younger Princess Marijke in "Juliana" (directed by Robert-Jan Westdijk). In 2007, she reprised her role as Princess Amalia in the feature film "Alibi", directed by Johan Nijenhuis. Her commercial work includes lead roles in high-profile campaigns for Ziggo iTV, Gamma, Spark, and Post NL. She made appearances on Dutch talk shows like "Boulevard" and "Man Bijt Hond", and was invited to perform on various talent and game shows, both as a contestant and performer.
